Babchi Oil and Seeds – Fact, Figures and Remedies

[ad_1]

Because of its medicinal value and popularity it is known by many other names around the world as below Latin: Psoralea corylifolia English: Babchi, Purple Fleabane, French: Psoraléa, Arabic: Mehlab-Aswad, Persian: Waghchi, Sanskrit: Vakuchi, Bakuchi, Hindi: Babchi, Chinese: Bu gu zhi, German: Bawchan

The plant is commonly found in China and India in dry and arid conditions, especially the sandy desserts. The seeds contain essential oil, a nonvolatile terpenoid oil, a pigment, a resin, fixed oil, raffinose, two coumarin compounds viz., Psoralen and isopsoralen, psoralidin, corylifolean, isopsoralidin; and the most active ingredient is psoralin alkaloid.

Pharmacological Action: antipururitic (decreases itching-contains natural antihistamine) antipsoriatic antibacterial anthelmintic moderately selectively antifungal diuretic, diaphoretic.

Remedial uses: It is very useful in hypopigmented lesions of the skin like leucoderma and psoriasis as it contains psoralen, which causes the skin to produce new pigment when exposed to sunlight. It is used both as a local application and orally. Also useful externally in scabies, dermatitis and leprosy and is also useful in painful urination.

Clinical trials were conducted to assess the efficiency of Babchi oil / seeds

Oral administration along with application of oil and exposure of the patient to sunlight for 5-30 minutes daily for 1-7 weeks wave encouraging results. It was shown to improve the color of skin (including removing white spots)

In another case case consulting of forty-nine patients who used the Babchi seed / oil treatment for 6 months. Of these patients, 14 percent were cured and another 19 percent regained pigmentation at at 2/3 ed of patches.

This herb has been considered by Ayurveda doctors to be so effective in the treatment of leprosy that it was given the name of 'Kushtanashini' (leprosy destroyers).

According to ayurveda it will increase Pitta (Bile) in the body. so it should be taken with honey or ghee. I have tried its powder about 1- 2 grams powder with water before breakfast and after taking it for 5-6 days the skin becomes sensitive to the sun (if you have tried some other psoralen based cream you would know the feeling) and the marks which are exposed to the sun become red in color.

The Oil can be used to rub on the white spots and it works the same way, it makes the skin sensitive to the sun and will make the patches red, be sure to use it very cautiously, as over exposure to the sun can and will badly blister and burn the skin. So start with very little oil and very little exposure to the sun and then gradually increase it to what can be sustained without any problem or discomfort

An ointment made by combining one part of an alcoholic extract of the seeds with two parts of chaulmugra oil and two parts of lanoline has been found to be effective in treating leucoderma, white leprosy, psoriasis, and other inflammatory skin diseases and febrile conditions. The oil can be used both internally or as a simple ointment externally. Gently rub the oil once or twice daily. The proportion of the active ingredients may be increased if needed.

Babchi also promotes bone calcification, therefore it is also used in treating osteoporosis in the traditional medicines. This herb is also used to stop the spread of some forms of cancer as it inhibits the multiplication of osteosarcoma (bone cancer cells) and lung cancer cells. Under the chinese medical system the seeds are known to be aphrodisiac and a yang tonic to the genital organs.and is used as as Libido Stimulator: to treat impotence and to iimprove vitality

Safety & Interaction Information: Babchi is generally considered as safe; however, as it makes the white spots extremely sensitive disorder to the sun so it is important to use sunscreen or avoid sun exposure. It is possible to experience skin irritation and blistering when using this herb topically. If that happens, discontinue use. In many cases you would notice stomach pain and discomfort, discontinue its use if you have that problem.

Precautions: Do not take with low body fluids; do not use with licorice root.

4 Foods PROVEN to Fight Inflammation

[ad_1]

We all want to feel good in our body, but let's admit it, we also want to look good. The way we connect to our looks is part of how we feel, right? Well, one of the questions I get asked a lot by my private clients is, "How can I get rid of this puffiness around my eyes/in my face/insert trouble spot of your own?". Of course, there are tons of products on the market that are telling us what to put ON these trouble spots, but you know that I am going to tell you that what you put IN your body is where it all starts.

Before we look at what can help to decrease puffiness let's take just two

seconds to give service to what can CAUSE it:
excessive sugar and caffeine. If

you swear you don't really use either and you still find your self with bags around

your eyes: First, really double check the content of your food. Sugar is sneaky. It

likes to hide-out under other names and guises. Second, check with your own

practitioner or specialist to help you understand what is happening for you

specifically.

Now let's look at four foods that will help fight inflammation for good!

1. Broccoli - is excellent for reducing eye inflammation. This great green

veggie contains double the vitamin C of an orange and just about as much calcium

as a glass of whole milk. Best to be bought (and used!) with bright, green florets and

firm stalks. **Extra Tip** Steamed al dente is the best way to go. Raw is

hard to digest. Cooked any other way and you lose all those great nutrients.

2. Grapes - when it comes to reducing inflammation we are really talking

about the juice part of the grape, but NOT store packaged grape juice. Grapes

contain vitamin A, B-Complex and C and relieve any swelling in the throat, mouth,

gums and eyes. (Grapes are done ripening once they are picked so choose a mature

bunch when buying!)

3. Hemp Oil - let me say right away that this is not marijuana being

talked about here. Hemp oil is loaded with our friends Omega 3's (more than flax)

but also has what is called GLA's (gamma-linoleic acid) which stimulate the growth

of healthy hair, skin AND reduce inflammation. Use on salads, baked root

vegetables and as a dressing. **Extra Tip**Don't use it for cooking and

you are not getting the benefits if you take it in capsule form.

4. Job's Tears - sounds like a magic potion, doesn't it? It is actually a

whole grain! Before it is hulled it has a black, sturdy case which earned it the great

name. Once hulled, it looks more like barley. You may have even had it at one time

and thought you were having just plain old barley soup. This grain is wonderful for

cooling any inflammation and can also be very helpful for those suffering with

arthritis.

List of Pus and Mucus-Forming Foods

[ad_1]

The word "mucus" is from the Latin mucus which means "slime, mold, snot, etc." Mucus refers to a thick, viscous, slippery discharge that is comprised of dead cells, mucin, inorganic salts, water, and exfoliated cells. It also refers to the slimy, sticky, viscous substance left behind by mucus-forming foods in the body after ingestion. The word "pus" is from late 14c. Latin "pus" (related to puter [putrid] "rotten"), from Proto-Indo-European*pu- compared to Sanskrit. puyati "rots, stinks," putih "stinking, foul." Pus often refers to a thick white, yellowish, or greenish opaque liquid produced in infected tissue, consisting of dead white blood cells, bacteria, tissue debris, and serum. It also refers to the substance that dead animal flesh is chemically changed to after being consumed or while rotting in one's digestive tract. The ingestion of meat and dairy products create pus residue in the body, while starchy and fatty foods are mucus-forming.

The word "mucusless," or mucus-free, refers to foods that are not mucus-forming. Such foods digest without leaving behind a thick, viscous, slimy substance called mucus. These foods include all kinds of fat-free, and starchless, fruits and vegetables.

All foods that are pus/mucus-forming are acid-forming. The word "acid" is from the early 1600s meaning "of the taste of vinegar," from French acide (16c.) or directly from Latin acidus "sour, sharp," adjective of state from acere "to be sour," from PIE root *ak- "sharp, pointed" (see acrid). In chemistry it refers to a class of substances whose aqueous solutions are characterized by a sour taste, the ability to turn blue litmus red, and the ability to react with bases and certain metals to form salts. From a mucusless perspective, pus and mucus-forming foods are understood to be "acid-forming" inside the human body. Such foods create an acidic internal environment that is detrimental to wellness.

What are Deceptive Mucus-Formers?

Here is a list of foods that many people do not realize create mucus:

  • Rice (great for creating glue to bind books, bad for the transition to a mucus-free diet)
  • Avocados (fatty item that may be used on the transition, but are highly addictive. Although technically a fruit, if used it is best to combine them with a mucus-free combination salad or vegetables to aid elimination. However, it is recommended to stay away from them if you are not already stuck to them.)
  • Nuts (Mucus-forming, but may be used on the transition. It is best to eat with dried fruits like raisins to aid with elimination.)
  • Plantains (Starchy)
  • Tofu (Slimy and mucus-forming.)
  • Un-ripened fruits like green bananas (the riper the fruit you eat the better).
  • Corn (It does not eliminate well. When cooked corn or corn chips are eating it becomes mushy and slimy in the intestines.)
  • Corn chips (Some people use them on the transition, but they are very addictive and do not eliminate well)
  • Beans (They are starchy and mucus-forming. But, they may be used sparingly on the transition within close proximity to green-leafy salads)
  • Starchy Vegetables (Some vegetalbes are starchy and mucus-forming in raw or cooked forms, such as white potatoes. But, many other vegetables, such as sweet potatoes, become almost mucus-free (starchless) after proper cooking.

The Transition Diet

It is very important that people learn how to transition from the most harmful mucus-forming foods to the ones that leave behind the least amount of waste. To learn more about this transitional process, check out Arnold Ehret's Mucusless Diet Healing System: Annotated, Revised, and Edited by Prof. Spira.

3 Insane Mistakes Acne Sufferers Make That Cause Severe Acne Breakouts

[ad_1]

How badly do you want to cure your acne? Do you stand in front of the mirror studying your face, just wishing that your acne would vanish sometime soon? I know exactly how you feel as I suffered with acne for five and a half years. I have 3 mistakes to share with you that you need to begin avoiding now. Avoid them and begin to implement the solutions into your life if you want less frequent acne breakouts.

Mistake #1 - Consuming too many omega 6 fatty acids and not enough omega 3 fatty acids. The ideal ratio is 1:1, but the average American has a ratio of 20:1 in favor of omega 6s. Some nutritionists say a ratio of 4:1 is ideal. Omega 3s are known to fight off free radicals which will lead to fewer breakouts.

Solution #1 - Eat more omega 3s and less omega 6s. Do this by consuming more fatty fish, by taking a fish oil or krill oil supplement, eating more walnuts, hemp seeds, flax seeds, chia seeds, and other similar foods that have a good dose of omega 3 fatty acids. Consuming grass finished beef and other meats with more omega 3s will help too.

Mistake #2 - Not eating any raw food. Most of us cook all our meals. This destroys the enzymes present in food, making it harder to digest, and it adds carcinogens to meat. It is important to feed your skin nutrition but when you cook food the nutrition is lost.

Solution #2 - Steam your vegetables. Eat a ginormous salad for lunch with lots of color vegetables. Drink a green smoothie for breakfast. Cook more of your own food instead of buying prepackaged food that is often cooked too much.

Mistake #3 - Avoiding sunlight. Do you avoid the sun and/or protect your skin from the sun with sunblock lotion? Doing this is a deadly mistake. Vitamin D3 is the most important vitamin that our body needs. The best source is the sun. Your skin loves the sunlight and will thrive with more of it.

Solution #3 - Get outside more. Do not burn yourself but make sure you are getting sunlight every day if possible. For those of you who live in climates where its cold in the winter months, take a Vitamin D3 supplement. I live in Michigan and thus do this myself.

Avoid these 3 mistakes and you will be headed down the correct pathway to clear skin. But, doing just these 3 things will not necessarily cure your acne although they will certainly help a lot.

Superfoods for Migraines

[ad_1]

Migraines and cluster headaches: whatever the label, the pain and side effects can be intense! In addition to traditional treatments, including more of the following "superfoods" can help.

What are superfoods? Well, they're not exactly supplements--although some supplement companies have begun to market "extracts" of various superfoods. By definition, superfoods are whole foods or oils that offer exceptionally high doses of nutrition. People call them "super" in part because of their benefits and in part due to their origins. Most superfoods are not new; rather, they've been used by powerful ancient cultures and only recently rediscovered by the West. Although some scientists and many raw foodists credit superfoods with amazing regenerative and protective abilities for almost any health issue, this article discusses superfoods for special consideration by those who suffer migraines and/or cluster headaches.

Cacao (kuh-COW): Commonly marketed as raw cacao or raw chocolate, this "food of the gods" actually became monetary currency in the Aztec empire! Conventional wisdom tells those with migraines to avoid chocolate as a major trigger food. While some people do have sensitivities to chocolate, most people actually react to the typical dairy and refined sugar in cooked chocolate bars. Raw cacao, by contrast, offers seven times the antioxidants of its cooked version, without the offending dairy and sugar. More importantly for those with migraines, raw cacao contains one of the highest sources of magnesium in any food. Magnesium acts as the relaxing counterpart to calcium and helps to balance brain chemisty. In fact, many migraine sufferers manage to stave off headaches by consuming large quantities of magnesium supplements. Magnesium can also help with PMS, another known trigger of migraines. In addition to magnesium, raw cacao offers caffeine (which seems to affect the body less intensely in its raw form). Some people with migraines find that judicious use of caffeine can curtail a headache before it becomes a full blown episode. Most prescription migraine pills contain some form of caffeine. From a nutritional standpoint, raw cacao certainly beats a Pepsi! If you know for sure that chocolate causes a reaction, skip the raw cacao, but otherwise it could be worth a (delicious) try. Add cacao nibs or powder to morning smoothies, or make raw fudge by mixing the powder with coconut butter, raw agave nectar or honey, and some of the other superfoods listed below. As with any new food, start small so you can monitor your reactions.

Maca (MAH-kuh): Also known as "Peruvian viagra," maca is a root grown at 14,000 feet in the Andes Mountains. Despite its fame for keeping Peruvian men virile into their 80's, maca actually functions as an adaptogen, meaning it balances all hormones. If someone has too much estrogen, maca works to lower estrogen levels. If another person has too little estrogen, maca helps the body bring those levels back to optimal levels. Maca also nourishes the adrenal glands, helping the body handle some of the stress that so often triggers cluster headaches and migraines. Maca grows in some of the most inhospitable conditions on earth, but it has learned to flourish where other plants die. Natives believe that the root transfers this strength and adaptability to those who consume it: "You are what you eat!" Metaphysics aside, maca's high mineral content, B-vitamins, protein, fatty acids, and plant sterols allow it to rebuild the body wherever it most needs help--good news for people whose headaches come from stress or hormonal imbalance. Maca tastes a bit like radish, so you don't want to add too much to sweet smoothies. It blends exceptionally well with cacao, though, and I always enjoy a morning glass of fresh squeezed lemon juice in water with about a teaspooon of maca. The lemon brings out maca's hidden sweetness, making a surprisingly zesty lemonade.

Hemp: No, I'm not talking about marijuana, even though some people do employ cannabis for medicinal purposes. You can now find hulled hemp seeds, hemp butter, hemp protein powder and hemp oil at alternative health food stores and in many online shops. Despite virtually no THC content (the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana), the U.S. government prohibits the sale of hemp seeds ready for sprouting, so you can only legally buy hulled ones or hemp products, most of which seem to come from Canada. Nonetheless, hemp has experienced a major resurgence in recent years as people have rediscovered what ancient Europeans knew so long ago. Hemp supports the immune system and contains edestin, the protein most easily assimilated by humans--good news for people who react to protein powders made from soy or dairy (whey). Hemp seeds, butter and oil also contain the perfect ratio of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids, thought to help balance hormones and brain chemistry. In addition, the green color of hemp comes from chlorophyll, which differs only by one atom from hemoglobin. (Hemoglobin forms around an iron atom, whereas chlorophyll forms around that beneficial magnesium atom.) Purifying the blood with chlorophyll-rich foods like hemp, wheat grass and leafy greens can alkalinize the body, which, in turn, eases stress responses like migraines and cluster headaches. Hemp protein powder tastes a bit gritty, but the butters, oil and seeds carry a pleasant, slightly nutty sensation that combines especially well with raw cacao and maca. You can also replace the bulghur wheat (gluten is a major migraine trigger) in foods like tabouli with hemp seeds, or use hemp butter as a nutritious replacement for another common trigger--peanut butter.

Yerba Mate (YUR-buh MAH-tay): For those people who know they need to kick the coffee habit but simply can't forgo their cuppa Joe, Yerba Mate offers a good substitute. Another highly mineralized South American food, Yerba Mate tastes somewhat similar to coffee, but instead of depleting the adrenal glands, it nourishes them with B-vitamins, 15 amino acids, 11 polyphenols (like in green tea and red wine) and, you guessed it: more magnesium and chlorophyll. Whereas coffee provides a caffeine jolt, mate's energy comes from the B-vitamins, blood purifying properties and a component called mateine. Unlike caffeine, mateine gives a lift without the crash. Some independent coffee houses now serve soymilk "mate lattes," or you can brew the tea at home. For best results, warm but don't boil the water, then let the tea steep for 5 minutes. You can then add hemp milk and essential oils like peppermint with a hint of raw cacao powder, creating your own minty mocha. Yerba Mate also brews well as a sun tea, mixed with orange peel or traditional chai tea spices. A favorite of shamans, Yerba Mate offers a traditional, nutritional alternative to coffee, along with minerals and nutrients thought to support hormonal balance and alkalinity.

In short, these superfoods bring trace minerals, potent nutrients, and a bit of folklore. As foods rather than drugs, they gradually rebuild and support the body, instead of generating a "quick fix." If you'd like a holistic approach to treating migraines or cluster headaches and haven't responded to "newfangled cures," you might want to explore some ancient culinary treats.

Charlottes Web CBD

http://www.charlotteswebcbd.net/

Charlottes Web CBD is a high cannabidol (CBD), low tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) cannabis extract marketed as a dietary supplement under federal law of the United States and medical cannabis under state laws. It does not induce the “psychoactive high” typically associated with recreational marijuana strains that are high in THC. Developed in 2011 by the Stanley brothers – Joel, Jesse, Jon, Jordan, Jared and Josh – through crossbreeding a strain of marijuana with industrial hemp, Charlotte’s Web induced a process that created a variety with less tetrahydrocannabinol and more cannabidol than typical varieties of marijuana; the variety shows potential for medical usage, especially for those who do not wish to experience the aforementioned high of recreational use.

Read Allen Peake’s appeal to expand Georgia’s medical marijuana program

State Rep. Allen Peake is the unquestioned godfather of Georgia’s medical marijuana program, but his measure to expand the initiative this year seemed doomed before a late compromise between House and Senate lawmakers saved it.

House lawmakers overwhelmingly approved that deal on Tuesday, which expands the list of conditions eligible for the program, and the Senate is expected to follow suit this week.

Before the vote, the Macon Republican delivered an emotional speech thanking his colleagues for their support.

Here’s a snippet of it:

And before I yield for questions, I would like to add one final thought.

For four straight years, this body has stood up for the rights of hurting Georgia citizens to legally possess medical cannabis oil in our state.  Speaker Ralston has made it clear every year that this issue is important to this chamber.  And now we have taken the next step of allowing more of our citizens to have this option for their medical conditions.

Many of those citizens would like to thank you, but since they can’t stand with me in this well, I’m going to thank you for some of them.

On behalf of Colin, an 8-year-old autistic boy whose dad Dale has fought for several years for inclusion of autism on the registry, and who has been using medical cannabis oil illegally for two years, and who can now go out to eat with his parents, who has learned to start feeding himself, who just this past week said his first word – Momma.  On behalf of Colin, thank you for your support of this bill.

On behalf of Abby, a cute little 6-year-old girl, who suffers from such severe autism that she would bite her arms bloody and scratch herself until her skin bled for hours, whose mom tried everything possible to stop the raging, and finally tried medical cannabis oil illegally for Abby, and who has seen an almost miraculous improvement, and is calm, and happy, and learning, and who amazes her teachers every day with her improvement.  On behalf of Abby, thank you for your support of this bill.

On behalf of Gage, a strapping 17-year-old young man who has suffers from Tourette’s syndrome, so severe that last year he was having 4 tics every minute, over 1600 a day, that interrupted his life and left him unable to function normally, whose mom made the courageous decision last year to provide him medical cannabis oil illegally, and whose life for the last year has dramatically improved, with only 10-20 tics a week.  Gage is happy, healthy and thriving.  On behalf of Gage, thank you for supporting this bill.
